Poppy Ackroyd is a composer originally from London, now based in Stroud. Classically trained on violin and piano, she creates intricate, atmospheric music by manipulating and multi-tracking sounds from these instruments.

Her debut album Escapement was released in 2012, followed by Feathers in 2014. Since signing to One Little Independent Records in 2017, she has released a series of acclaimed works including Resolve (2018), Pause (2021) and collaborative and reimagined projects exploring the sonic possibilities of piano and strings.

Her music has also featured in award-winning film and animation collaborations, including a British Academy Film Awards for Stems, and has been used by the New York City Ballet and the National Theatre.

In 2026 she releases Liminal, a new album returning to the core pairing of piano and violin, with every sound drawn from the instruments themselves.
