Phaedra Ensemble is a London-based collective exploring the space between contemporary classical and experimental music. Founded by violinist Phillip Granell, the ensemble brings together musicians from across the UK’s new-music scene to create immersive, cross-genre performances. Collaborations have included Meredith Monk, Caroline Shaw, Masayoshi Fujita, Susheela Raman, and artist RY X. Their debut album Realms, featuring the music of iconic American composer Meredith Monk, will be released on Cantaloupe Music in September 2026.

For Hidden Notes Festival, Phaedra Ensemble presents a programme for string quartet featuring music from their upcoming album Realms with Meredith Monk, alongside works by composers they have long championed, including Caroline Shaw and Gavin Bryars. The set brings together pieces that reflect the ensemble’s ongoing exploration of contemporary chamber music, voice, and minimalism.
