Melos Kalpa is an ensemble of musicians employing unconventional strategies to make music that exists somewhere at the intersection between improvisation, minimalism, chance and intention.

Musicians Agathe Max (Abstract Concrete, Papivores, These Towns), Jem Doulton (Thurston Moore Group, Too Many Things), David John Morris (Red River Dialect) perform via the conduit of producer Marta Salogni’s intricate tape preparations, which create rich textures, delays and distortions of their unique instrumental palette (marimba, vibraphone, violin, guitar, mandolin, Buchla Music Easel and more).

They released their first record in October 2024 via Hands In The Dark, now sold out, which features the original recordings from the band's first sessions together back in 2020.

The journey of these recordings saw the group having to navigate the loss of their dear friend and band member Tom Relleen, whose vision is still very present within the ensemble sounds and vision.

They will be performing resemblances of these recordings in live settings in the coming year, giving new life and shapes to the project.
