DAVE HOWELL (130701)
25.09.22 / St Laurence Church / Inbetween Sets
Working as A&R at influential UK independent FatCat Records since the very start of the label back in 1997, Dave Howell has been responsible for signing and developing a large number of artists including the likes of Animal Collective, Vashti Bunyan, Nina Nastasia, and U.S. Girls, as well as founding and running 3 imprint labels - 130701, Splinter Series and the legendary, long-running Split Series. In recent years, Howell has concentrated his efforts almost exclusively on the 130701 imprint. Set up in 2001, the trailblazing imprint was releasing the work of adventurous contemporary pianists / composers at a time before there was any apparent scene or market for such music, and was described by The Vinyl Factory as having "played a peerless role in redefining the modern classical scene." 130701 has been a home to artists such as Max Richter, Johann Johannsson, Hauschka, Dustin O'Halloran and Set Fire to Flames. A new crop of artists, including Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch, Ian William Craig, Resina, Shida Shahabi and Maarja Nuut & Ruum have injected fresh blood and further expanded the scope of the label. Howell is currently based in Portishead and has recently released work as a sound artist for the Heritage Lottery-funded project, A Forgotten Landscape - publishing a series of soundscapes based around his own field recordings and oral history recordings captured in the Lower Severn Vale area.

STEPHEN VITKOVITCH (BYRD OUT)
24.09.22 / Sound Records / 11:30 - 12:30
As label head of the "genre defying" (The Wire) Byrd Out, Stephen Vitkovitch has had a hand in releases by the late, great Andrew Weatherall, dub and jazz crossover curios from Betamax of The Comet Is Coming and Soccer96, and a host of East African artists including Slikback and ambient breakout artist KMRU. He's also a resident on Bristol based 1020 radio with his '81 Discovery Avenue show', which focuses on leftfield jazz sounds. Excpect a diverse selection, including unreleased Byrd Out tracks.

SEAN ROE (KLANG TONE RECORDS)
24.09.22 / Sound Records / 12:30 - 13:30 / St Laurence Church / Inbetween Sets
Sean Roe studied fine art at Goldsmiths College and Middlesex University and ended up doing a residency at a Museum for Ceramics in Shigaraki in Japan in mid 1990’s. While he has always loved music (he played bass and flute as a teenager) It was only really in Japan that he started buying lp records in volume from local flea markets and junk shops and found the perfect balance between teaching English and selling records and organising live events during extended periods spent in Japan. Dealing in unusual records has been his primary source of income for almost 30 years now and his DJ sets are shaped by the rare and unusual items he finds in the wild! After 4 years jointly running Sound Records in Stroud Sean has now launched a new venture -Klang Tone Records which aspires to be both a Record Shop and creative hub but also a Label with ambitions to release both new experimental music and reissue long lost and forgotten recordings. Sean currently performs with Uta Baldauf in Wooolheads - best described as a messy meeting of words and electronics.
